Design Concepts

  • The space adopts a classic Chinese symmetrical layout, infused with the minimalist aesthetics of modern design. Through wooden structures and streamlined layouts, it expresses the harmonious beauty of blending tradition and modernity.

  • The design emphasizes a balance between cultural depth and functionality, featuring handcrafted wooden furniture and traditional craft elements, combined with modern technology to create an environment that is both historically rich and comfortable for practical use.

  • The overall planning centers on the concept of “tranquility,” aiming to provide users with an ideal place to escape the noise, focus on reading, writing, and introspection.

Decorative Elements

  • Carefully selected calligraphy works and traditional Chinese paintings are displayed on the walls, featuring Tang and Song poetry as well as Ming and Qing painting styles, showcasing the diverse charm and historical context of Chinese art.

  • Hand-carved wooden screens and display shelves are arranged to exhibit exquisite porcelain and ancient books, adding depth and cultural richness to the space.
  • Desktops are adorned with the Four Treasures of the Study and traditional tea sets, complemented by elegant orchid potted plants, creating a strong scholarly atmosphere and the refined taste of the literati.

Functional Layout

  • The space features dedicated areas for calligraphy and reading, equipped with low tables, chairs, and comfortable cushions, suitable for calligraphy practice, tea ceremony experiences, or small cultural workshops, providing versatile activity spaces.

  • A cultural display area is arranged to exhibit ancient books, poetry scrolls, and traditional costumes, meeting the needs of academic research, cultural learning, and exhibitions, enhancing visitors’ cultural engagement.

  • The design is flexible and adaptable, allowing the space to be rearranged as a lecture hall, exhibition area, or tranquil resting zone according to activity requirements, accommodating diverse usage scenarios.

Spatial Ambience

  • Soft, warm lighting is used throughout the space, combining recessed ceiling lights with wall sconces in the shape of traditional lanterns to create a warm and tranquil atmosphere that encourages inner calm and focus.

  • The wooden flooring pairs beautifully with handcrafted woven carpets, while the walls in subtle off-white tones and calligraphic ink strokes exude a harmonious blend of natural and cultural elements.

  • The overall color scheme features warm brown, off-white, and ink black as the main tones, accented with touches of red to symbolize passion and vitality in culture, creating a space that is both profound and inviting.
